The flight into exile of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and 85,000 Tibetans in 1959 marked a dark chapter in the history of Tibet but it also saw the beginning of an extraordinary story of cultural survival that has touched the hearts and minds of millions of people around the world.
As a result of the Tibetan diaspora, Tibetan culture has become a cherished part of our global heritage. Under His Holiness's visionary leadership, the Tibetan exile community's unwavering commitment to nonviolent action has become a beacon of light in a troubled world. Tibetan spiritual wisdom and practice have enriched many fields of human endeavor, including science, ecology, education, economics, conflict resolution, and the arts.
Now, 50 years later, the time has come to send our messages of appreciation to His Holiness and the Tibetan people. By saying Thank You Tibet! you will be acknowledging the Tibetan people's tremendous accomplishments in the face of great odds and affirming the value of Tibetan culture to our world. Please join the Nobel Peace Laureates in this global campaign to support the Tibetan people.
